WIDAC ‘Great Debate’ in Sydney

WIDAC ‘Great Debate’ in Sydney

Women in Design and Construction networking event ‘Great Debate’ is a great success in our Sydney showroom.

Last Thursday evening we were thrilled to host the Women In Design and Construction (WIDAC) ‘Great Debate’ networking event in our Sydney showroom. Panellists from four different sectors of the construction industry provided over 150 guests with their insight on the topic ‘Project Perspectives – Who do you think adds the most value across the Project Delivery Lifecycle’. The evening provided lively discussion, good banter and solid arguments as we delved deeper into what each sector brings to the table, and if there even is such a concept as to who brings the most value on a project.

Speaking on behalf of the design team was Sarah Kay from Woods Bagot, Jessi Bolton speaking on behalf of the engineering sector, Jeff Curnow from PDS Group for the Project Managers and Camillo Masci from CPB Contractors for the Builders. Judges, David Chandler OAM – NSW Building Commissioner at the NSW Department of Customer Service and Samantha Carroll - Delivery Manager at City of Sydney, executed the final decisions on the evening.

Through many laughs and firm debate, the consensus was that without the teamwork & collaboration of all disciplines, a project wouldn't be a success, or as Sarah Kay mentioned "would potentially look like a Frankenstein building without the architect involved". Congratulations to Jessi Bolton, from AECOM for taking out the win on behalf of the engineering discipline.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the WIDAC event and congratulations to the lucky guest who took home the door prize, a Tolomeo Micro Lamp by Artemide Design.
