Salone del Mobile: Part 2

Salone del Mobile: Part 2

As we continue our coverage of Salone del Mobile for 2019, the Stylecraft team spent the day admiring and being inspired at Rho Fiera fairground.

The well-curated stands of Italian brand, Arper, and the Japanese brand, Karimoku New Standard yet again impressed this year as we viewed their latest releases.

In an era of constant connection and dominance of technology, we crave stillness, softness and balance. Arper’s theme of Soft(er) emerges via soft hues of cascading fabric creating a striking entrance to their Salone del Mobile 2019 stand.

An emphasis on well-being and the creation of flexible, comfortable spaces is at the core of the Soft(er) ethos, and personified by the release of Cila Go, Planesit and Stacy. The Cila range, designed by Lievore Altherr, is expanded by the creation of Cila Go; a complete seating, storage, ottoman and tablet system that is mobile and functional. The stackable Stacey chair blends functionality with understated elegance, while the Planesit chair’s wide armrest doubles as a small writing tablet. A new range for 2019, the Saul table range designed by Jean-Marie Massaud with finish options including marble or glass, provides a substantial addition to complement the Arper range of lounging.

Celebrating their 10th anniversary, Karimoku New Standard’s theme of Present, Past and Future, gives a glimpse of the brand’s vision for the next decade. Extending their collections by working with new design talent, as well as updating existing KNS ranges designed by Christian Haas, Scholten & Baijings and BIG-GAME is central to their ambition.

The new Polar Chair designed by Tokyo based Swiss designer Moritz Schlatter,  features a curved back and generous seat depth. The Castor Lounge designed by BIG-GAME is refreshed with the option of the armchair and lounge without arms while the recently launched Archive Shelving range is enhanced with the introduction of a barstool and high table.

To continue to mark the 10th anniversary of the Japanese brand, an installation in an apartment and garden within the vibrant district of Brera also houses the brand’s collections. Visit the satellite event KNS Home & Garden with Japanese chef Shiori Goto, via Cernaia 7, Brera, from 11am – 5pm.
